Privacy Policy — StorageSorter

This Privacy Policy describes how Storage Sorter (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the StorageSorter mobile application (the “App”).

Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

Summary: StorageSorter does not offer email, password, or social login. We identify your session using a device identifier, process photos you provide for AI object identification, and store your Storage shorter data (items, spaces, and images) on our servers so the App can work.

1. No account login

The App does not offer email/password accounts, Google, Apple, Facebook, or other social login. You are not asked to create a traditional user account with a username or password.

Instead, when you open the App we create or restore a backend session tied to a stable device identifier (see below). That session is used to save and retrieve your Storage shorter data on that device.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Device identifier and session data

To create and manage your backend session, we collect:

Device identifier — on Android, the device’s ANDROID_ID; on iOS, the vendor identifier (identifierForVendor).
Platform — whether you are using Android or iOS.
App version — the installed version of StorageSorter (for compatibility and support).

After registration, our servers issue an access token (Bearer token). The App stores this token on your device so it can call our APIs. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or precise GPS location as part of sign-in.

2.2 Photos and camera / gallery access

With your permission, the App may access your device camera and/or photo gallery so you can photograph or select images of items you want to Storage shorter.

Those photos are sent over the internet to our servers and to our AI identification service so we can detect objects, suggest names and categories, crop item images, and (where applicable) estimate storage needs. Photos you choose to save become part of your Storage shorter.

2.3 Storage shorter and app content you create

When you use the App, we store data you create or confirm, including:

Storage shorter items — names, descriptions, quantities, categories, notes, estimated values, confidence scores, and related metadata.
Spaces / locations — storage spaces or rooms you create or assign items to (for example, “Store Room” or “Office”).
Images — uploaded photos and cropped item images associated with your Storage shorter, served from our media infrastructure.
Session tokens — credentials that keep you signed into the backend session on that device.

The App may also keep a local copy of some Storage shorter data and the access token on your device for offline performance and normal app operation.

2.4 Information we do not collect (via this App)

Email address or password for login (we do not offer that login).
Social network account credentials.
Third-party advertising or analytics SDK profiles (the App does not currently integrate advertising or third-party analytics SDKs such as Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar).

3. How we use information

We use the information above for:

Account / session management — creating and maintaining your device-based session and securing API access.
App functionality — identifying objects in photos, building and syncing your Storage shorter, managing spaces, uploading and displaying images, and providing storage-size recommendations where offered.
Support and compatibility — using platform and app version information to diagnose issues and keep the service working across versions.

We do not currently use your data for third-party advertising analytics or sell personal information.

4. How we share information

We share data only as needed to operate the App. Recipients may include:

Our AI identification host — photos (and related request data) are processed by our AI service used for object identification (hosted under our *.storagesorter.com AI endpoints, for example ai.storagesorter.com / environment-specific AI hosts).
Our application / API hosting — Storage shorter, auth, media, and related APIs hosted under *.storagesorter.com (for example api.storagesorter.com and environment-specific API hosts).
Legal / safety — if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security.

Service providers process data only to provide services to us and are expected to protect it appropriately. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Retention

We retain session, Storage shorter, and image data for as long as needed to provide the App and your Storage shorter on that device, unless you request deletion sooner (see Section 7).

Photos sent only for identification may be processed temporarily by our AI and backend systems. Storage shorter images and item records you save are kept until you delete the related items/spaces in the App or request full deletion of your data.

Access tokens expire and are refreshed or replaced as part of normal session management. Local copies on your device remain until you clear app data, uninstall the App, or we process a deletion request.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures appropriate to the nature of the data, including transmitting data over HTTPS (encryption in transit) between the App and our servers.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

7. Your choices and data deletion

In the App, you can typically:

Delete individual Storage shorter items.
Delete spaces (subject to the App’s rules for items in that space).
Revoke camera or photo permissions in your device settings.

Because there is no email/password login, there is no in-app “delete account” screen tied to an email identity. To request deletion of the data associated with your device session (device identifier, Storage shorter items, spaces, stored images, and related server records), contact us at:

Please include enough information for us to locate your data (for example, the App name StorageSorter, your platform — Android or iOS — and approximately when you started using the App). We may ask for limited additional details to verify the request. We will respond within a reasonable period and delete or anonymize the applicable data unless we are legally required to retain it.

Uninstalling the App removes local data on your device but does not automatically delete server-side Storage shorter data. Use the email request above for server deletion.

8. Children’s privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at the email above and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

9. International processing

Our servers and service providers may process data in countries other than where you live. Where we do so, we take steps designed to protect the information in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
